DR. SHAAM SHAMSI

Shaam qualified from the Royal London in 1994 and is the Principal / Clinical Director of Horizons Dental Centre.
As a former lecturer in the restorative department at Manchester Dental School teaching final year students, he continues to instil this ethos of learning in his current practice.
Shaam has also been involved with Vocational Training since 2001, teaching and mentoring new graduates in practice. In 2008, he was appointed to the post of Training Programme Director in Midlands & East running one of the training schemes at Stafford & Stoke Hospitals. Shaam sits on the Local Dental Committee panel in North Staffordshire and is also involved in examining. He is a former examiner for the Faculty’s MJDF examination and currently examines for Overseas Registration examination in London as well as the Royal College of Surgeon's LDS examination. He has clinically mentored GDPs who have had FTP allegations brought against them. In 2006, he acquired a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Ethics and Law and has worked as a Clinical panellist for the GDC’s Dental Complaints Service. He enjoys General Dentistry in particular the field of Implant Dentistry.
He enjoys lecturing especially internationally where has been invited by many overseas institutions to present on the MJDF and the ORE. His affiliation with the GDC involved sitting as a panellist for the Fitness to Practice procedures adjudicating matters on clinical and professional misconduct. His other roles include Specialist Advisor to the CQC, Risk Management workshop presenter for Dental Protection Society and recently appointed to Council on the Advisory Board for Medical Protection. Outside dentistry he enjoys sport, travelling, attending the gym and spending time with his wife and 3 children.
In the summer of 2021, due to his passion for the Medico-Legal side of Dentistry, Shaam set up the first ever PG Cert in Dental Risk Mitigation with a colleague which has received significant interest from colleagues in the profession.

Rabia joined the practice in September 2019 having completed her MPhil in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Manchester in 2016.
She has a calm, warm and reassuring attitude to her patient management and has become a valuable member of the team.
Rabia works mainly in the morning sessions at the practice as she is married and has 2 young children. Outside Dentistry she has a passion for meeting friends and travelling, and above all cooking exquisite dishes.

Gurpreet is a warm and welcoming dentist who loves to make every patient feel comfortable. Having completed his undergraduate training in Romania, he worked for 5 years in the West Midlands before joining Horizons.
His aim is to change people’s perspective of dentistry to one which is pleasant and enjoyable and he will go above and beyond to do this, tailoring his approach to each individuals needs.
Gurpreet has a special interest in Dental Implantology and will be happy to discuss your needs with you.
In his spare time Gurpreet loves to travel, is very disciplined in his fitness and is an avid supporter of Manchester United Football club.
He looks forward to meeting you all!

Kevin joined the profession in 2022 after graduating from the University of Liverpool. He completed his Foundation Training in Cannock, Staffordshire before joining Horizons. Kevin is a local lad having grown up in Newcastle-under-Lyme . He is a former student of Dr.Shamsi and has made an excellent start with the team at Horizons. He enjoys general dentistry but has been developing a keen interest in the cosmetic side of the profession. Kevin has exceptional IT skills and a bubbly personality.
Outside dentistry, Kevin's very active in sport and fitness and enjoys quality time with his family here in Staffordshire.

Izzy is a passionate Dental Hygiene and Therapist here at Horizon Dental Clinic. She has 8 years of experience in the Dental industry and had recently qualified from The University of Manchester with Honours.
She believe’s effective communication, guidance and continued support is the key to gaining and maintaining oral health.
Izzy is dedicated to making a positive difference through one to one tailored advice for every patient and aims to ensure every patient leaves with a smile and no unanswered questions.
Her scope of practice allows her to carry out an array of treatments from routine examinations to restorations and much more.
Izzy is committed to continuous learning and growth. She regularly attends webinars and workshops to stay up-to-date with new products and evidence for recommended treatments.
When she is not working, you can find her socialising with friends, running and exploring new places with her sausage dog, Dennis!

Maryam is our newest member of the team having graduated from UCLAN this year. She has been with the dental profession for almost 10 years having worked as a Dental technician previously. She brings to work a calm, composed and mature approach when caring for her patients and has made a promising start at Horizons.
Maryam is one of the newest members of our team. Prior to these roles she had also qualified as a Dental Nurse. Maryam is not local and travels from Worcester to work with us. Now that is commitment!
